PaleyFest 2014 Closing Night: American Horror Story Coven

It was the closing night of the 31st Annual PaleyFest, and the witches were out at Covenwarts for the American Horror Story: Coven panel of cast and creators. This was the first time the Paley Center for Media has ever honored a miniseries. The ultimate TV fan festival took place in Hollywood's Dolby Theatre to a packed house of studious Supremes. The evening kicked off with a Bewitched clip from 1970, followed by the AHS: Coven episode "Burn, Witch. Burn!" (named after the 1962 Horror classic?) The audience cheered on as Dame Lange popped pills, Taissa Farmiga massacred the walking dead with a chainsaw, and Kathy Bates ran a stake through her dead daughter's heart.  Creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk were in the house; Brad stating that "you can't have a more female drama than witches." Most of the cast were present, including, Gabourey Sidibe , Evan Peters , Frances Conroy , Sarah Paulson , Kathy Bates , Emma Roberts , Jamie Brewer , Denis O...

American Horror Story: Coven Closes; Freak Show is Restored

As AHS: Coven came to its boiling end, where Stevie Nicks has sung to the young witches beginning the Seven Wonders, and a new Supreme revealed herself to the eager pupils of Miss Robichaux's Academy - fans eagerly await the return of the tightly structured, boundary slaughtering, mesmerizing experience that is AHS . In an exclusive Entertainment Weekly reveal, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy has stated that the anticipated Season 4 of FX 's hit series will be a period piece: "It’s set in 1950 . If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there’s some more clues in that year. It’s a period piece. We try and do the opposite of what we’ve done before. Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent so I’m very excited!"   The clues that I have found are that the Circus Krone Building in Munich, Germany was the first permanent building for a circus, originally being built in 1919. Among many others, Krone was bombed an...

Life is a Gabourey

Old chum, Season 3 of FX’s American Horror Story is the season of the witch. This season is filmed entirely in New Orleans, where magic can roam the historical streets. Series creator Ryan Murphy loves women, which is why they have the platform to muck about as they so please on AHS: Coven . Whether they do voodoo, who knew, they would have their sexual ways with whomever they require to fill their needs. We’ve already seen incest, questionable bestiality, and slave porn… and we’re only on Episode 4. Murphy continues to push the boundaries of everything kept in the closet. So why is all this accepted on regular cable you ask? It is women doing the horrific deeds. Female empowerment over female oppressive forces conquers on American Horror Story .  We start in the 1830s, where socialite Madame LaLaurie ( Kathy Bates ) has slaves kept down in her attic – Bates is bathing it like Bathory – in blood. Director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon uses a lot of fisheye lenses, causing the viewer ...

Bates and Sidibe Join 'American Horror Story: Coven'

Is the above image a legitimate promo for American Horror Story: Coven on FX  October 2013? I have no evidence to support that. But, it is entirely intriguing. The third season of the AHS horror anthology is said to revolve around a witch coven(s) and will star Season 1 veterans Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, and Frances Conroy. Executive producer and co-creator Ryan Murphy has the real meat of the show on lock down - J.J. Abrams style. Perhaps the cauldron is not yet boiled for audiences to consume? A walk-on cameo by the Sanderson Sisters? The latest is that Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe  ( Precious , The Big C ) has joined the cast that is up to no good. Everything being released so far is bewitching - of course, the season of the witch - mother Bates (not Norma) - and now Gabourey. Though Season 1 of American Horror Story was excellent and refreshing, Season 2 was over-the-top a...

'American Horror Story' Kills!

Alas, your one-stop candy shop for chills, thrills, wit, and spills, is American Horror Story on FX . What's refreshing about this modern horror story is that it has a comedic undertone that blends exquisitely with the scares that it produces. Everything that you were/are afraid of is thrown into the layered story lines of the new series that exposes the dark side of people, and the hush-hush taboos that your friendly neighbors likely partake in behind closed doors. Jessica Lange ( Grey Gardens, Cape Fear ) is back! With a lush role she can really sink her teeth into. Six Feet Under fans can revel in watching Frances Conroy steal every scene with her theatrical delight. So dust off that old Freud book from the shelf, light up some candles, and enjoy the enchanting house of American Horror Story !
